Fees, Features & Options
Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury provides lifetime residency and services including health care if required. Four Entrance Fee options are available, each featuring different healthcare coverages and/or refund provisions.

Both Entrance and Monthly Fees vary based on the option you select, the size of the residence and the number of persons residing there.

You will select one of the four Entrance Fee options at the time you reserve the residence of your choice. Your Entrance Fee preference depends upon your priorities and philosophies regarding the use of your assets, your objectives in estate preservation and your expected long-term health care needs.

Option I: Declining Refund Total LifeCare

This program is the most popular choice of those who value the security and protection of the Total LifeCare contract.

  • Monthly Fees do not increase should you need assisted living or nursing facility services with the exception of two meals per day and any ancillary charges you incur.
  • If residency at RWC should cease for any reason during the first 50 months of residency, a refund is paid to the resident, or the resident’s estate, equal to the amount of the Entrance Fee that was paid, less 2% of the Entrance Fee for every month or partial month of residency. After the 50th month, there is no refund.
Option II: Refundable Continuing Care

This option might appeal to those wishing to preserve their estates and feel that the risk of long-term care is minimal, or those who have a source of alternative funding for health care charges, such as long-term care insurance or investments.

  • Residents pay the regular Monthly Fee while residing in Independent Living. When assisted living or nursing facility services are needed, Residents are responsible for the costs of these services at prevailing rates. Residents have the option of paying the prevailing rate or deducting the increase in cost from the refundable portion of the Entrance Fee.
  • If residency should cease for any reason during the first 25 months of residency, a refund is paid to the resident, or the resident’s estate, equal to the amount of the Entrance Fee paid, less 2% of the Entrance Fee for every month or partial month of residency. After the 25th month, the refundable Entrance Fee amount is 50% of the Entrance Fee paid.
Option III: Fifty-percent Refund Total LifeCare

This option is designed for those who place a priority on the security of Total LifeCare and seek to preserve an estate.

  • Monthly Fees do not increase should you need assisted living or nursing facility services with the exception of 2 meals per day and any ancillary charges you incur.
Option IV: 365-Day Deductible

This option appeals to those who value the long-term protection of the Total LifeCare contract, but feel that the cost of any assisted living or nursing facility services is manageable for a one-year period. Residents who select this option often utilize existing long-term care insurance policies to pay for the cost of the first year of assisted living or nursing facility services.

  • Residents pay the regular Monthly Fee while residing in Independent Living. When assisted living or nursing facility services are needed, Residents are responsible for the cost of these services at prevailing rates for the first 365 days (cumulative, non-consecutive, per person). After the first 365 days, Residents pay the regular Monthly Fee.
