The RWC Foundation Makes a Difference in the Lives of Residents and the Community.

The Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury Foundation supports the operations of RWC by raising money to underwrite fellowships for residents and provide funds for other projects at the community. This separate nonprofit corporation has a fivefold purpose:

  • To aid, strengthen, and extend the work, services, and objectives of Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, Inc.
  • To help assure that residents whose financial resources have been exhausted in spite of prudent planning can remain at RWC
  • To provide financial assistance to those eligible to move to RWC who cannot afford the full entrance or monthly fee (or both)
  • To offer assistance to qualified individuals from the community to participate in the Adult Day Program
  • To manage the financial assets entrusted to it by donors to RWC

The Fellowship Fund is the primary resource for the foundation’s work. Established prior to the opening of RWC in 1985, the fund underwrites residential fees for qualified residents. The foundation grants scholarships for nursing staff to pursue professional development opportunities. An annual Fellowship Fund drive, the annual golf tournament, and donations from individuals and philanthropic organizations generate revenues for this fund.

The foundation also accepts gifts from donors who wish to support RWC in other ways. Gifts for programs and activities, as well as ones to support community offerings or improve campus buildings and grounds, are administered through the foundation.
